Make Money Blogging For Beginners | How To Start A Blog In Ten Minutes

Would you like a quick way to learn how to make money blogging for beginners? Is it really possibly to learn how to start a blog in ten minutes?

So you’re probably here cause you want to set up a blog and most likely you will want to make money with it…

I don’t blame you.

That’s why you need to do it the correct way, from the start.

To do this correctly right out of the gate, you need the proper guidance that will show you the way but not take you way off course.

To really to make money blogging as a beginner you need to follow what works.

If you don’t and go at it alone, you will take much longer than 10 minutes to set up your blog. It could take years to get it right.

Now this article will probably take longer than 10 minutes to read unless…

Since this is geared for beginners lets just get you the stuff you need to know…

Then leave out all the other stuff that can cloud your mind and confuse you.

OK, so here is a quick overview of how to make money blogging as a beginner:

  1. You need a domain name
  2. You need a good hosting company
  3. You then need a blogging platform you upload to your host… I suggest wordpress.org.
  4. You need to choose a theme to use (based on function and personal choice)
  5. Then you need to add some plugins and pages once you get set up
  6. Focus on one social platform to promote and get good at using it
  7. Then all you need to do is start writing, making videos, writing blog posts and creating informative relevant content to your sub niche group of people.

That’s it…After consistent writing of about 2-3 posts a week, you will have a blog that is getting traffic.

Then your job is to refine and test and document.

Then add in a new traffic stream only one at a time… like YouTube, Facebook etc

Before I Explain What You Need To Do I Just Wanted To Say A Few Things

Many bloggers make things way more complicated than they have to.

They spend so much time trying to look like they have an effortless wonderful life…

When really they’re eating, breathing and sleeping their blog.

Everything is fabricated with fancy professional pictures and beautiful layouts.

Some bloggers have it so complicated that they really have a hectic life showing you that it’s easy.

The key is to just focus on one thing at a time.

You want to find one proven mentor or system you can trust in.

Something that specifically teaches beginners how to make money blogging.

Things and products will be speeding by you all the time.

You need to stay focused on what works and build your  foundation… this is the hardest part.

This is what trying a proven system will do for you…. This will fast track your success and give you a head start.make_money_blogging_for_beginners_correct_start

Instead of wasting years and years, you can get things going in a few months, while learning how to make money blogging as a beginner.

If you’re building your first blog, your goal is to just get it up as fast as possible. Then start experimenting.

I know many will tell you to do it a certain way…

Well listening to most of the people out there will just create way too much confusion in the beginning.

Sometimes you just need to stop listening to what people are saying and start watching what people are doing.

Or you could spend way too much time in analysis paralysis, that it can take forever to just get your blog up and hosted.

Typically people fail because they choose the hard way… figuring everything out yourself.

Spending way too much time deciding.

Sometime spending months creating and working out kinks.

Then only to forget about it and all the stuff that comes with it.

I’m not saying this is exactly what will happen to you.

I thought I was better off doing it myself also when I started.

It really put me behind.

Setting up a blog is simple but it’s difficult all at the same time.

You will understand when you start dealing with different cheaper shared hosts.

They will always work fine in the beginning but typically only with sites that are new that don’t get traffic and are not making money...

Then to get it to make money people start adding widgets, gadgets, scripts and plugins.

They get tons of different advice that can all cause issues later.

As well as getting more traffic and security issues etc.

When you get things managed and taken care of, you can run your business without the headache of learning how to set everything up. Worse fix everything.

Then you won’t waste so much time managing things  that don’t make you money.

You Can Then Essentially Focus On Your Strengths

When you have someone handling the annoying things, you can actually focus on running a business. Not becoming a part-time IT guy or gal.

I made the mistake thinking I could figure everything out myself.

Don’t do this… or later you will pay for it in serious amounts of lost time. Go the easy route!

Many bloggers fail right out of the gate because:

  • They don’t understand how to talk to their target audience
  • They try to monetize before even building trust or engaging or offering something.
  • They get so far off track starting off on the wrong foot and not doing things correctly
  • They give up too quickly.

How To Make Money Blogging For Beginners And How To Start A Blog In Ten Minutes

#1 You Need A Domain Name

These can be bought in many places. Where ever you go to get a domain it just needs to be a trusted provider.

Some I suggest:

  • My #1 recommendation (you can get domains and hosting)
  • Bluehost  (you can get domains and hosting)
  • Name.com  (you can get domains)

These are trusted domain name providers, that will get the job done. make_money_blogging_for_beginners_name-com

There’s not much to buying domains but you just have to spend time considering what you want your name to be.

This is another thing that many spend a lot of time on when really it doesn’t matter.

Yes you want it as relevant to your niche as possible but also you want something people can remember.

I wished I had made a better name when I started.

It really doesn’t make a difference as long as your content helps your target audience.

So if you’re going to start a health and fitness blog

you could call it health-and-fitness-information-tips.com  but this is too common and general.

You could alternatively make a name like

Example:  oh-kale-yeah.com

They get the message of health across but also makes an impression.

#2 Good Hosting Account:

So when you start you hear a lot of people saying get a host. This is true and most people know this. The tricky part is which type and what package?

Typically the host many bloggers promote is Bluehost.

This is a pretty good host but all the weight is on your shoulders to manage, install and keep updated and guard against attacks.
For a beginner blogger most of them will not know how to do this. make_money_blogging_for_beginners_struggling_with_tech

I still for sure don’t and neither do most businesses and even big marketers.

Most just outsource or cross their fingers and hope nothing happens.

Also when learning all this online tech jargon, it will throw a curve ball at you with all the tech problems associated when things don’t go perfectly smooth.

This makes it harder to realistically succeed in the long run. Especially as a beginner.

As just real life problems can happen that are hard enough to deal with let alone all the other computer issues. This is a huge reason a lot fail.

The key is to find your strengths. Then focus everything around that.

There are just so many things to stay updated on.

When I started people where using Joomla and Drupal… and they were gaining in popularity to build sites on.

Then basically they got very unpopular and WordPress became Google’s best friend and king for blog creating.

The reason for me saying that is I learned about all these things in the beginning and now there worthless to me.

If you take this advice you will essentially know what you need more than others struggling for years doing it the wrong way… Then learning hard lessons.

This is why you need to focus on just using what works for right now.

In the beginning you need someone who can do this for you and watch your back.

Even If You Learn How To Start A Blog In Ten Minutes That Is Just The Tip Of The Iceberg.

Your troubles come after forgetting what you did originally. Not understanding how to fix problems that arise later.

This is of course after getting immersed in other things, computer crashes, learning other tools and platforms you need to run business etc..

This is a headache as you have all your content on your blog.

After building this for months you do not want to have problems that de-rank you.

Also you don’t want anything that can cause your blog to have terminal problems or get hacked.

Don’t get me wrong… if you like to spend your time tinkering with tech stuff as your hobby, testing computer issues and solving tech problems all day, then go for it.

But most likely you wont make a lot of money unless you start a business solving others tech problems.

If you don’t enjoy tech stuff then you sometimes want more in the beginning than just getting a basic hosting account.

It could work fine for you but this is a lot more work and more unforeseen problems down the road.

These problems you will need to take care of yourself.make_money_blogging_for_beginners_how_to_set_up_blog_in_10_minutes

One main thing is people see the cheap price for the unlimited bandwidth.

When their blog starts growing is when the price starts getting a lot higher. This is why I suggest the recommendation that I do, as they allow 25 sites with no surprise fees later when you start actually earning money. They also use a very secure expensive dedicated hosting. This seriously helps ranking.

This is why a host like this can be tricky for a beginner as they’re good but you need to understand what you’re getting into.

Some other things to consider with Bluehost Hosting:

You also need to be aware that they charge $149.99 for site migration that my recommendation provides for free. They will also not transfer more than 5 sites and 20 email accounts.

They have a ‘QuickStart’ Training which is a simple 45 minute introductory walk through of their services that costs $79.99. Again My number #1 recommendation gives in depth much more advanced affiliate training courses and hosting walk through with just it’s free membership.

It will cost much more than the advertised price unless you pay upfront for 12 months or longer.

With shared hosting your website can have problems if someone in your server that you share with, has issues. This is good for hobby blogs or pages about you and your profession…

but

If you want to blog for profit you need a good host that’s fast and secure.

When it’s all said and done Bluehost is a good hosting company, I don’t hate bluehost it’s actually one of the better shared host.

When you compare what it offers to what my #1 recommendation offers plus much more. Read this for explanation on the hosting and comparison.

You start to realize that these shared hosting companies will actually be more money in the long run  for the same capabilities.

If you get the quality of host like the one I’m talking with my #1 recommendation at other comparable hosting providers charge up to $250+ a month.

This is for the same or worse service just for the hosting… not including keyword and commenting tools, training and continuing education and superior support.

If you’re looking to set up a blog in ten minutes, and host and do this with multiple blogs then you will want to use a special platform.

There will always be someone claiming they have a better widget or can make something work better… but really you just use what works and focus on saying the right things that your target audience would like or be interested in, that you have figured out or have overcome.

Remember when you start blogging it’s not like you have to come up with genius theories and grand ideas.

All you really need to do is immerse yourself in a niche for a week or two full-time…

Then look through everything you can from forums to the best blogs.

Soon you will see what the market has already and want it needs to make it better and then most important is what you can provide to serve one of the needs.

make_money_blogging_for_beginners_Working_online

Also it helps a lot if you’re interested in the subject…

as this will allow you to at least have some more unique insight to create interesting content.

Oddly enough having interest is really not even completely necessary to make money… but it is necessary to be happy.

All you need to do is find something that people already are looking for.

  • Then you just place yourself in front of that revenue stream.
  • Find your sub niche within a niche (niche example:) “fitness” (sub-niche example:) “nerd fitness”
  • As long as you speak the language or have information the sub-niche group needs, you’re in business.

This is actually easier than it sounds, do a little research on something example: “backyard chicken coops”…  as if you’re buying them for yourself or a special person who really needs a good one.

Imagine all the info you have after

and

how all that could be shared and packaged conveniently for others to find.

Then you already know enough to start educating people about it.

Remember you copy something word for word it’s plagiarism…

you take things from here and there and say it back with your own unique view, it’s research.

Write it, in your own words and your now a writer! maybe not yet a good one but dammit you’re a writer.

If you have what your target audience is looking for… they don’t really care:

  • who came up with it first
  • who you are
  • where you went to school
  • who your daddy is

All they care about is if you have a solution to their problem.

Once you learn how to just give people information you can basically stay a chapter ahead of your desired target audience.

You just need to offer the kind of advice that most people in real life would give you a “thanks for the tip” type response… then you’re in business.

You will have served and helped them and gave them more information than they knew before.

If you really think about it, no one fully knows the answers to anything, as things change and strange events happen.

Most of the time it’s who can learn info the quickest and adapt the fastest. I mean doctors are realistically just still practicing on you. This is why it’s a medical practice as they don’t have all the answers. They still make money though.

#3 You need to choose the proper blog theme to use (based on function and personal choice)

Ok this is short a sweet…

There’s a handful of themes that can work but people will over think this.

Don’t waste too much time find a solid theme and start building.

You should try to not worry too much about the theme… make_money_blogging_for_beginners_geneis

…as it’s not the lifeblood of your blog, your content is.

If you want a good theme you can try

  • Genesis theme
  • Thrive themes

They’re both really good. But they cost more money.

Really in the beginning you can just use some of the best rated FREE themes that have simple function.

If you try my #1 recommendation they have all the best free themes that work. Then you can just pick one really quick and move on.

This is really How to start a blog in ten minutes

So either:

You can pick one of the paid themes

Or

Get best working free themes to start (You can always get better theme later), quick EZ site builder and everything like hosting and training all in one with my #1 recommendation (that’s also free to try).

#4 All you really need to do is quickly set up all your plugins

Ones I would suggest: make_money_blogging_for_beginners_yoast_plugin

  •  Yoast SEO plugin
  • Akismet Anti-Spam

Then the rest is up to you and your preference but these two are pretty important and work well.

You want as few plugins as possible as they can basically add weight and slow your site down and make you rank lower in google.

Most plugins are not really necessary. Really plugins just make things easier.

Be careful as they can cause the site to have weird problems, run slow or other issues.

Mixing certain plugins with other plugins can also cause issues. Sadly the only way to find out is when it causes probelems.

So the best bet is to have only a few of the most important ones in the beginning. Well at least until you understand why you need any more.

#5 Start Writing Using Focus Kewords In Title And Discriptions Relevant To Your Niche.

So now you have your domain you have your hosting and you got it all set up with your theme and plugins, now you’re ready to start creating content.

This is pretty self-explanatory but just to cover it briefly, you’re going to want to get blog posts written about new relevant topics and create videos and get traffic to your blog.

You will want to focus on one or two main keywords or one long tail word and make sure it’s in your

  • Title
  • Headers
  • First paragraph
  • Body
  • Last paragraph

Then it just comes down to getting better at writing.

then adding one thing at a time like making videos that are interesting in your niche. Just check out the best out there already, then get some info and say it in your own words.

You will target some focus keyword in all content made as well.

If you need more visuals and are more of a hands on learner try this…

You can just set up a free account here and learn how to start a blog in ten minutes, Also get free training and play around with it first.

You can try themes and see how they work and then you can make a quick decision about how you want to market your blog.

Test everything you would like, learn the training and use the keyword tool to start.

#6 Then you just need to focus on one social marketing platform.

make_money_blogging_for_beginners_facebook The best thing for beginners to get explosive growth is knowing how to use social media correctly.

Focusing on optimizing your content for multiple platforms just doesn’t work, especially in the beginning.

Focusing on one is the best way to start and make money the quickest.

You need to know how to use these platforms the proper way to get your content noticed.

I have got good traffic from facebook but it’s getting harder and harder to do. Really think about your favorite social media platform.

Do you like to use google + try focusing on just that. If you like Twitter focus on that. If you like Pinterest, Tumblr, reddit etc. use the one you use the most.

If you would like to fast track your social media growth, check out this article for more.

#7 Start monetizing

Now that you have your blog up and you have content and getting traffic, it’s time to start suggesting products as an affiliate.

Later on look into making your own products but that is a whole other article.

In each of your best highest ranking articles just put a helpful link to a product or service that is helpful for what you’re talking about in your article. It need to naturally flow in that direction.

Example: Talking about heirloom tomatoes?

– Put a link to a course on how to grow your own award-winning heirloom tomatoes.
– Put amazon link for tomato planting equipment, kits etc.

Hey Simon,

Yes I agree if you blog about a specific interest within a niche you will definitely get rankings as your serving a need that is not being met by general be all to everyone type sites.

Sometimes though passion can get you in trouble if you’re passion is just not a very good niche where people spend money.

Everything can make money at one point or another but many have a hard time waiting forever to get rankings and sometimes quit too early. This is why learning how to find a good sub niche within a niche that people spend money in is KEY.

Yeah the site rubix website platform at WA is really nice and makes setting a blog a snap… Not to mention the speed of hosting and security they add on with membership.

I have been blogging for 2 years. but was making money consistently within the first 4 months.

Thanks for stopping,

Brandon

Most bloggers do describe their role like you say, a complicated job requiring technical skills to accomplish however quite the opposite is reality. It’s all about being yourself and writing naturally, in other words being unique, this will get you search engine rankings over time.

The thing to concentrate on is something you are passionate about and are willing to write regular content about. It’s best to narrow your niche down to a small segment in the market and wholly concentrate on this, a small segment is huge in a worldwide market.

It’s surprising that over a year’s worth of determination in publishing regular content a website starts to become an authority website in it’s own right, a place for visitors interested in your niche to where conversions are made.

I too got my website up and running in 10 minutes with Wealthy Affiliate without any prior experience.
How long have you been blogging?
Simon.

Thank you for this detailed and comprehensive guide on how to build a blog. I find it really helpful and it has answered a lot of my questions. I like your suggestion about focusing on one social platform at the beginning. I was trying to get them all and at the end, it was the waste of time. Better be strong in one area instead of being weak in many areas.

    Hey Arta,

Yeah my thoughts exactly, as when I started I felt like I needed to be good at all of them… this just led to creating lots of mediorcre social profiles.

Great post! Like you said, if you want to make money blogging for beginners, then you need to learn and do what has already worked for others. I had to learn that the hard way.

I agree, lots of bloggers make things more complicated than they should… especially when trying to make money blogging as a beginner. It’s so important to focus on one thing at a time, especially when first starting out.

How long have you been blogging?

Lots of helpful information! Thank you!

    Hey Weston,

Yeah, for some reason I think we all get in our own way when first trying to make money blogging as a beginner. lol, As It took years to finally put that toghether.

I had everything finally click when I had everything I needed like a proven plan to follow and all the tools, training, hosting you need to set up online business all in one place. This alone was huge in guiding everything in the right direction.

I was trying to find these weird obscure niches, when really you need to find what is working… get in front of them…. then just solve the newer problems in that niche or focus on helping a underserved audience with-in that niche.

I have been blogging for a while but if I put it toghether on how much I have worked blogging straight, it would be around 2 years of part time work… it’s been 6-7 years tinkering aroound thinking about things and jumping from one shiny object to the next before that. Now lately, if I could just get myself to actually put in more than 3-4 hours into my blog a week, I could do alot better LOL.

I constantly chase new opportunities and it has screwed up so many things.. Learning to stop and just focus on one thing in the beginning when trying to make money blogging is key.  That really can take some time to learn to get yourself to do habitually.

    Thanks For Stopping By,

I wish I would have run into this post when I was trying to Make Money Blogging when I was a beginner just starting out. You have clearly pointed out the steps needed to start a blog in ten minutes, and the importance of a good host.

I’m still learning about marketing to social media platforms and I like your advice to just focus on one before attempting to add more. It seems less overwhelming that way.

Do you have any other suggestions on

how to Make Money Blogging for beginners in requards to promote traffic?

On average, how long does it take to gain a steady traffic base?

    Brandon says July 18, 2017

If you’re looking to learn to Make Money Blogging a a beginner,  I would suggest something like either setting Facebook groups and building a following.

or using Pinterst and really optimizing for Pinterest if you have more visual products or services.

Twitter sometims works for health and political stuff better but I have not had much luck on it… So  you will have to test but only focus on the one producing best results in the beginning.

It usually takes a month or two of paid traffic to get a good steady base but can take a few months to a few years getting a steady base for free so sometimes you want to consider reinvesting if you want faster traffic.

You don’t have to invest a ton but doing it all for free can take some time. This is why if you’re going to go that route you need to at least make sure your goinng the right direction. This is why I reccomemd the platform that i do HERE.

Very informative and helpful blog it is well laid out with easy to follow steps

that is pretty much the exact same way I started my blog, well I use go daddy for my domain name, but you can use any domain mane server for this.

Anyone looking to start a blog should follow these steps the one step I would add tho, is start collecting Emails.

I made the mistake of not collecting email from my visitors for years and I missed out on a ton of money because of it

But you learn from your mistakes

Hi Brando.

I’ve been looking into various ways of making money online recently and blogging is certainly a route that interests me.

My concern is on how to go about doing it and although you talk about the things I need to do and have I don’t understand some of the terminology.

It all seems a bit overwhelming. Do you think I could learn it easily or is it a long term project?

Reply
    Brandon says July 15, 2017

    Hey Jamie,

When you try to make money blogging for beginners, it’s very common for mostto not completely understand a lot of the steps. In the beginning it’s all about finding a plan to follow.

Once you slowly take it one step at a time and look up each part you don’t understand, things will start coming together big time.

Then When you combine this with a community of like minded people in similar situations, you can make connections much faster such as in marketing forums or program I recommend.

The hard part is who’s advise is legit and who is a scam.

Then when you find something legit,  understanding you need to stick with it and not bail to start something newer.

Making money blogging can be learned easily by beginners but if you try to do it all yourself, in the beginning it will take a long time, sadly.

The best bet is to find a system that works… and focus just on that.

Get everything you need without BS to learn, research, host, build and market your own profitable business online all in one place (that you own). Also you need this is you want to learn how to start a blog in 10 minutes.

Don’t let shiny objects and flashy hyped up products take your focus.

If you get a system that can take care of everything all in one

and not have to tinker with technical problems…

You could do it quite easily as long as you put in the work.

If you try to do it all yourself, it will be a long term project,…this is coming from experience.

Being overwhelmed is a good thing in the beginning as that is the first step, Then it’s to slowly start to just group things together.

Then start learning what you need to do first.

Once you figure that first step out it will give you the answer to figure out the next step.

Just don’t go too fast where you forget what you did

    or

get stuck in analysis paralysis and take forever to move forward.

The hard part is everybody is very different and finding what they want to do

and the right way to do it…

can be very challenging at first.

If you follow what works, it can go very quickly…

If you stay on the fence and never take much action and go at it your own way, it can take years.(making money… not just setting up a blog… as setting up “just any blog” is easy. the hard part is making consistent money)

The best way to start is to follow a proven plan on a proven platform with help from others just like you. Then to have everything you need all in one place.

This is the best way in my opinion to make money blogging for beginners…  If you’re confused and overwhelmed this is the best way to go.

    Hey Hailey,

I agree with you as when you finally get a good plan to follow, you can start making money with blogging as a beginner rather easily.

The problem is most beginners who try to make money blogging run into scam after scam first… Then are sometimes too scared to take action when they need to.

Then even when they run across a program that does work they’re so jaded that they remain skeptical at the wrong times and lose out on good opportunities as well.

I agree, if you get out of your own way and just try to provide some value, follow a plan it can be very simple. I hope things are going good for you and your blog.

    Thanks For Stopping By,

    Brandon

Great advice Brandon. I have a blog and I can gladly say that done most of what you suggested. It’s interesting that you write to start with only one social marketing platform since most people have several. Which social marketing platform do you believe is the best platform to start with and why? Thanks again this information regarding starting a blog.

    Hey Kay,

Yeah usually most people have tons of social sites and most have very little traffic. This happened to me and still does lol. It’s really just good to master the one you like the most… Also the one that seems to have the people that you’re looking to target. Some niches works well on facebook groups while others work better on twitter or Instagram and pinterest. The main thing is not doing a bunch of social profiles/pages half heatedly and find the one where most of your market/target audience seems to hang out.  Then learn to utilize it to the fullest and it can bring in way more traffic than just dabbling with a bunch.

    Thanks For stopping by,

    Brandon
